  • CWT, the United States-based corporate travel agency has just recently paid $4.5 million in bitcoin to hackers who stole sensitive files from the company. 
  • According to a report published at the end of last month on the 31st of July, representatives from the company paid ransomware hackers 414 bitcoin on the 27th of July that week. 

CWT, the United States-based corporate travel agency has just recently paid $4.5 million in bitcoin to hackers who stole sensitive files from the company. According to a report published at the end of last month on the 31st of July, representatives from the company paid ransomware hackers 414 bitcoin on the 27th of July that week. At the time it was worth more than $4.5 million. 

The attackers have said that they use Ragnar locker ransomware in order to disable access to files on around 30,000 computers at the company. Initially, they demanded $10 million but accepted less than half after a representative from the company claim that they had such critical financial losses during the pandemic of COVID-19.
