Democrat representative Darren Soto has sponsored a new bill that was filed at the end of last week known as H.R.9067. This new bill is looking to create an office that will help coordinate federal applications of Blockchain technology.

The Democrat representing Florida's ninth district is sponsoring this new bill which would help build “an office within the Department of Commerce to coordinate all non-defence related deployment and activities related to blockchain technology within the Federal Government.”

The bill was referred to the House committee on energy and commerce on the 31st of December last week.

Even though the text and full details of this new bill have yet to be released to the public, the sponsor could give a big indication as to what kind of technology applications would be looking to coordinate with.

In the past, Darren has proven to be a big advocate for the crypto industry and even accepts campaign donations in digital assets.

Towards the end of last year in September, the Democrat announced the culmination of almost 2 years of pushing his colleagues in the committee on energy and commerce. This was with the digital taxonomy act which would help lead to a study on the use of blockchain in a government setting.
