WWE or World Wrestling Entertainment has entered the NFT space, announcing John Cena-inspired non-fungible tokens. The announcement comes with SummerSlam right around the corner, and the NFT will be accompanied with rare, never-been-sold before WWE memorabilia.
An Exclusive NFT
The WWE NFT drop will feature a platinum-tier auction featuring a one-of-one exclusive NFT and will be available on WWE’s website, WWE.com/NFT, and presented in conjunction with Bitski.
The auction will begin at the start of SmackDown on Friday 20th August and will continue through SummerSlam on Saturday 21st August at 8 PM ET.
Top Bidder Rewards
The platinum tier’s top bidder will receive several prizes such as,
- One-of-a-kind NFT
- A Once-in-a-lifetime experience for Wrestlemania 38 at the AT&T Stadium in Dallas. Or the chance to watch WrestleMania 39 at the SoFi stadium in Los Angeles. This experience will also include hotel accommodation, VIP access, and two front-row tickets.
- A personalized WWE Champion belt that will feature the name of the winner engraved on it.
- A “Dr of Thuganomics” chain, similar to the one from Wrestlemania 35.
The Gold Tier
The Gold tier will also be dropping just in time for SummerSlam and will include 500 limited editions NFTs, and a merchandise box that Cena has specially curated. WWE Senior Vice President of Revenue and Strategy Development, Scott Zanghellini, commented,
“The Summer of Cena will be capped off by a phenomenal main event at SummerSlam as well as an opportunity for the WWE Universe to own unique collectibles inspired by one of the biggest stars in Hollywood today.”
This year’s SummerSlam will take place at the Allegiant Stadium on the 21st of Saturday 2021, Live from Las Vegas. This will also be the first time that a WWE event has been held at an NFL stadium. The main event this year will be John Cena vs. WWE Champion Roman Reigns, with live streaming on Peacock in the United States and the WWE network globally.
What Are NFTs?
NFTs or Non-Fungible tokens are tokens that are unique and cannot be replaced or exchanged by another token or asset. non-fungible tokens differ from fungible assets such as bitcoin because you can trade one bitcoin for another. AN example of an NFT would be concert tickets, a rare trading card, or a unique digital art collection.
